The HOC junior team “Revision Avoidance” triumph at the Harvester relays at Penhale. They won both the Junior trophy and the B course outright. Victory was all the sweeter for including a defeat of the mighty OD juniors. Team members were Dan Hartman, Chris Embrey, Liz White, Peter Ford and Tessa Hill (running in that order). It didn’t seem to impact too badly on their exam results either!
David Nevell took over from Lynden Hartmann as editor of AdHoc; his first edition for November has survived in electronic format here ; password protected as these were never intended for publication on the internet (It’s HOC’s premier area, used for many British Championships, with captial letters but no spcae). Nuggets include the launch of the forum and Barry McGowan’s enthusiastic review of an OD event – “Street event orienteering with a difference”; now known as Urban Orienteering. It”ll never catch on!

The HOC junior team who finished 5th in the Yvette Baker Trophy final at Sherwood Pines on December 4th. Some great performances from HOC regulars and from the new MADO HOC recruits meant that the HOC team improved a massive seven places from the 12th position they achieved in HOC’s first YBT final appearance last year. Harlequins strength in depth also meant that the HOC second team finished third out of the nine teams with enough runners to make up second teams.
