Summer Series

Summer Series

Summer Series events are flexible, relaxed and low key. Times and courses offered vary from event to event to suit the constraints of the area and of the organiser. Anyone can come to an Summer event – you do not have to be a member, you do not need to have orienteered before, they are great fun. If you are new to Orienteering then click here to find out more about the sport.

Planning for the 2026 series is under way. If you are able to organise an event please contact Ben Crone. Some suggestions for potential areas are here; guidance and support is available.

Many events use the same format as our Winter Evening Events – a single course but with a 60 minute time limit; competitors take controls in the correct order but miss out as many as they need to in order to finish within the hour.   Check out the details for each event to see what will be on offer.  There is a fuller explanation of the format here.

For Summer 2026, we will be including a number of events with the smartphone-based SMApp format used successfully during Winter 2025/2026, but without the need for headtorches!

The June Jaunter is a timed mini-fell run around Clent and Walton Hills.  Starting from Walton Hill car park, competitors have to visit the tops of Clent and Walton Hills, the gate to Nimmings carpark, and the stile behind Clent Church, in any order.

The Gates Run is a timed run around the seven gates of Sutton Park. Starting near Town Gate you visit the other six main gates in the Park and return to the start. The distance is about eight miles, but you choose your own route.

For previous years the winners, with links to league tables and results where available, are on the archive page.
