SMApp: Night Street League table after 6 events
“The winter SMApp series has just passed its half way mark with 20 runners braving the cold and sheeting rain to explore some very complex parts of Droitwich in the sixth event of the series. So far we seem to have had the wettest weather of any night series that I can remember so the tenacity of those who have taken part so far is impressive. I certainly hope that you’re all enjoying the experience- it was definitely Type 2 fun in Droitwich.
HOC members taking part in the winter SMApp series are eligible for the Harlequin’s Night Street league competitions.
So far, in the Ladies Open competition, Karen Thompson is in a comfortable lead, followed by Jenny Uff, who is in a good position to retain her Ladie’s Super Veterans trophy.
In the men’s competition, there is a tussle at the top between Ben Crone (who has won the Men’s Open for the last two years) and Steve Blackmore with Ben’s younger legs just giving him the edge so far. Steve, however, is on course to retain the Men’s Veterans trophy. Colin Palmer, who planned the Droitwich event has moved ahead of Robert Vickers in the Men’s Super Veterans category.
The results table shows that we have had lots of fine runs by non-members who have taken to street orienteering. We look forward to seeing you at the remaining winter SMApp events.“
