Grizedale Forest was the venue for Saturday’s ‘Long’ at the British Championships, and proved to be a tough technical and physical challenge on a beautiful sunny day in Lakeland. Mapper Martin Bagness describes the area as “unusually complex terrain with a lot of everything going on.”

A total of 15 Harlequins made the journey, and there were causes for celebration in the form of a win for Andy Hemsted in the M75L class, and a second place for Seb Blackmore in M14A.

There was further success at the Relays on Sunday at Bigland, with a first place for HOC’s Junior Ad Hoc team: Seb Blackmore, Pippa Blackmore and Craig Thompson. The format chosen for the event mixed up the order that legs were run in across the teams, making it hard to compare progress, until Craig stormed the last leg to take the win with 20 seconds to spare over the nearest rivals from AIRE.
