GPS Orienteering – new
GPS orienteering has no infrastructure on the ground; it’s a time trial rather than a race so you can run any course, any time you want. There are courses all over the Midlands and beyond – all you need is a smartphone and we’d recommend a printed copy of the map, though you can just use the map on the phone. Harlequins uses the MapRun app and there is a beginners guide on how to use it. Best way to fins a course is …..MapRun.uk; our courses that have beenleft open and unlocked are in tyhe table below
Urban areas offer a run with a difference and less challenging navigation, with the emphasis on good route choice. They usually use maps produced using OpenOrienteering street map format. Courses in “terrain” will usually use traditional orienteering mapping. Explain Score vs Line.
