Often used for Regional as well as Local events. Steep sandstone escarpment with lots of crags – some of them famous. Flat and fast plateau above escarpment, interesting spur and valley terrain below. Mixture of open naturally seeded birch, open heath and run/slow run conifers. Few brambles but bracken is a problem June to October The views from ridge down onto birch woods are very nice on a spring evening, and the National Trust Rock Houses are fascinating to visit….
The southern and less steep half of Kinver Edge; used for many years for introductory events. Also suitable for Level Ds. Events held in earlier years:

Open parkland with wooded hill on one side. Has a Permanent Orienteering Course; the map shows all the posts and has some suggested courses of varying length and difficulty. Only suitable for Local events unless combined with Baggeridge to make longer courses. It is a surprisingly tricky little area, with the fast and furious parland a complete contrast to the steep and intricate hillside.
Adjacent to Sandwell Valley but owned by Birmingham City Council and separated from it by a “rat run” road.
Fast open heath combined with fast birch and areas of mixed deciduous woodland. Flat with lots of little paths but it is good planning takes you off into the terrain. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust are very supportive with our events. Events held in earlier years:
A large public park which includes Highbury Hall and its surrounding estate – once the home of Joseph Chamberlain, who bequeathed it to the people of Birmingham. Another part of the park was once owned by the Cadbury Family and was, similarly, bequeathed to the city in the early 20th century. Nowadays it has many of the older features of the 19th century estates, including the Highbury Orchard and fishpond, plus extensive woodland. Events held in earlier years:
